Welcome

Florilegius is an image licensing company specializing in botanical engravings from the 17th to 19th centuries. We have over 10,000 exquisite flower images from our extensive library of rare herbals, botanical magazines, florist and gardening manuals, florilegia and language of flower books dating from 1750 to 1900. Our stock includes examples of woodblock prints, copper and steel engravings, stone and zinc lithographs, in both hand-coloured, colour printed and uncoloured states.

For easy browsing, the Florilegius collection of digital images is arranged into albums corresponding to an individual book or volume in a series. Simply click on an album to view all the flower images within a volume. Florilegius also has thousands of hand-coloured copperplates and lithographs of animals, fish, birds, insects, shells, and other natural history subjects from the 18th and 19th centuries.
